Acne at any age is no fun. There’s a stigma attached to it–it says you are dirty and don’t take care of yourself. While that is frequently untrue of those with acne, it is no less embarrassing. Whether you are a teen or an adult with acne, there are some natural remedies and approaches that can help.
Natural Remedies for Acne Include:
Steam directly to your face helps open clogged pores. Since black heads and pimples are both pores clogged with dirt, bacteria and an infection, the steam causes these pores to open up and release some of the nasty stuff trapped inside. While your pores are still open, use a gentle facial cleanser to wash your face and help remove blackheads. Pimples will begin to ooze and drain on their own when the steam has effectively opened them.
- Colloidal Oatmeal Scrub
Colloidal oatmeal is often used for skin conditions such as poison ivy, psoriasis and eczema. It works very well on acne too because it draws excess oil, bacteria and dirt out of the skin.
- Baking Soda and Vinegar
Use the baking soda as a paste scrub. Follow up with vinegar as an effervescent astringent!
Aloe is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Used often on sunburn to cool and soothe, it works the same way on skin with a lot of large, red pimples.
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Washing your face with olive oil not only releases dirt and makeup, but it also causes your skin to stop producing too much oil.
